Silver History and Uses
In the chakra system, silver is linked to the sixth
chakra or "third eye", associated with self awareness, insight, truth
and wisdom.
Amber
Once upon a time there were pine forests that made so much resin huge pools of it lay in puddles on the forest floor. Sometimes insects and small creatures got trapped in it and lay there over millions of years and became fossilised. Amber is a relatively soft stone, named by the Greeks after the sun, whose colours it shares. Amber comes from the Baltic and also Russia. The colour of amber reminds us of the sun and its warmth and comfort and as such is helpful for those who are invalids or recovering from illness and injury. It is as if it focuses the suns energy in a positive, healing way. Good for those who are depressed and lacking in energy. Copal is an imature form of amber that isn't fossilised, it's beautiful but not as expensive or hard wearing as real amber. Beware of really cheap "ambers" because it is highly likely they are copal. Blue Lace Agate
History and Uses It is a banded, blue form of Agate, found mainly in Southern Africa. All agates are actually made up of very, very, small quartz crystals. Mystical and Healing properties A very gentle, loving and soothing stone, good for nerousness and agitation. It is associated with the throat chakra and is therefore useful as an aid to communication, for teachers, politicians, police and others whose jobs require the use of tact and persuasion. Because of its helpfulness in communication is it also used for those with speech difficulties, especially those linked with nervousness, such as stammering. Said also to help with arthritis. Blue Lace Agate isn't too common, when I do have some in though it will be in the general sections.
Blue Chalcedony
Blue Goldstone
Technically speaking this "stone" really shouldn't be listed here as it's entirely a man made creation BUT I'm taking the liberty of including it because it's just so beautiful and I love handling and looking at it. It also goes with silver just superbly! It is made by adding copper salts to molten glass. The molten glass melts the copper back to a sparkling metal form and the stone ends up looking like the most fabulous starry night you have ever seen. I personally find it very inspirational and uplifiting to look at and wear it as much as I can. There is also a "goldstone" which is a orangey, gold colour and made in the same way but for me it doesn't have the beauty or power of the blue variety. The story is that goldstone was first discovered by alchemists (people looking for ways to create gold from base metals and other elements). Because of this association is was once known as the Sorcerers Stone. It's been known to man since the 1500s and prized as an ornament ever since. It's properties are those of lifting depression, reducing tension and anxiety. It is a very strong and positive stone to wear. On the physical level it is said to help with stomach tension and the copper in the stone is said to help with pain and inflammation. When I have blue goldstone items in they are in the general sections.

Gaspeite
Gaspeite is a newly recognised (1966, first named and described in Canada, where it was named after the Gaspe Penninsular) stone. It is also fairly rare and a very distinctive, almost neon green colour. The earliest uses of it are documented in Australian Aborginals, who used the stones for good luck when going on "walkabout" at the time of puberty. So might be good stone for a young person leaving home for the first time or for those going on a life changing journey. Because of it's newly discovered status there is little folklore associated with its use but most writers say it helful to the heart chakra and for circulatory problems, gallbladder and respiratory problems. Psychologically it is said to help with self confidence, emotional intuition and the development of friendships.I don't often have gaspetite in but when I do it will be in the general items sections.
Haematite or Hematite
The association of haematite with the blood is obvious. The colour of blood is mirrored by the deep red colour of iron ore, both colours of course coming from the presence of iron. Consequently, it is said to be helpful in the treatment of blood related disorders ranging from anaemia to nose bleeds and menstrual problems to heart disorders. On a psychological level it is said to help with mental clarification and problem solving, a good stone for scientists and mathematicians. Strawberry Quartz
As with all the other colours of quartz, strawberry quartz has the ability to energise and electrify, shocking someone into change! The pink form of quartz (along with the pink form of other gems) has a specific use with the heart chakra or 4th chakra. Blockage of the heart chakra is indicated by the symptoms of anxiety, frustration and depression and strawberry quartz is used to promote feelings of self acceptance and love in the wearers mind. It enables someone to show compassion both to themselves and to others. Often when the blockages are removed the wearer can then think more rationally about their problems, in addition to that the emotional release of the blockage can lead to physical healing of stress related illnesses.
